A Florida woman discovered a mystery carcass on her property, which has sent social media all abuzz trying to solve the mystery of what kind of dead animal it is.
Kelly Garrahan, of Titusville, Florida, told Click Orlando that her boyfriend was out on her five-acre property, looking for the dog, when he found the unidentified creature’s corpse in the yard.
Unable to figure out what kind of an animal it had been, she turned to Facebook for help identifying the deflated, shriveled up, browned, grisly and gristly carcass.

Suggestions ranged from a coyote and dog to an alligator, Komodo dragon and possum
As seen in a slew of Garrahan’s photos, the animal has a thick and long tail, a tooth-filled snout, finger-like appendages and claws and an elongated torso. It measures about two to three feet long.
‘It’s body, it doesn’t even look like something I’ve ever seen,’ Garrahan told Click Orlando.
‘I just want to know what it was, I’m new around her and I was like I don’t know what kind of animals Titusville has,’ she added.
In a Facebook post, she asked: ‘I found this in my yard… has anyone seen this thing before or know what it could be?’
Social media users had a variety of suggestions for what the gristly carcass could’ve been
The creature measures between two to three feet and has finger-like appendages and claws

More fanciful explanations for what the creature might be included chupacabra, swamp ape, ‘clearly a dinosaur’ and ‘100% an alien’

The question prompted a slew of responses ranging from a dog to an alligator, coyote, otter, Komodo dragon and monitor lizard. Some more fantastical answers included chupacabra, swamp ape, ‘clearly a dinosaur’ and ‘100% an alien.’
Garrahan said she sent the photos to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for an expert opinion. The organization responded that the creature was just a mundane opossum.
Whatever the animal actually is, Garrahan said that it smells so much that she now avoids the area and wants someone to come and remove it.
It’s unclear how long the animal had been rotting away on her property. Garrahan said on Facebook that because her property is so large, she doesn’t travel to the back of it every day.
